About

About this guide

visitmozambique.net covers three things: the coast, the capital, and the protected areas inland. Nothing else.

The site is written in the present tense, from what is in front of you. Where a number appears it comes from a published survey or a gazettement, and the method behind it is described rather than assumed. Where an attribution is contested, as with the ironwork at the railway station in Maputo, the piece says so.

Sections are unequal on purpose. The coast carries five pieces because two and a half thousand kilometres of it is the reason most people come. Maputo carries four, and the parks inland four, because that is what the material supports.

Photographs are credited where their source is known, and the credit sits under the caption rather than in place of it. Maps are drawn from published geometry, never sketched.

Corrections are welcome and are made in place. If a number here is out of date, the fastest way to get it fixed is to say which survey supersedes it.
