Every year the “Marimbeiros of Zavala” hold their Festival. This group of men is very well known not only in Mozambique but also in other parts of Africa for playing the “timbila” (which is also the name of a dance) and the “marimba chope”, a type of xylophone made from a special wood found only in Inhambane. Another of their talents is reciting spontaneous verse.

Anualmente, há um festival dos marimbeiros de Zavala ,onde há exímios tocadores de timbila e poetas de ocasião, que são bem conhecidos e apreciados em Moçambique e noutros países africanos.
