Tongo Lodge
Location: The Tondo Lodge offers a unique experience in an undiscovered Mozambican National Park, the Zinave National Park. With a maximum of only 22 people staying, the tourist will be immersed in a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere, far away from the crowd common to the biggest African National Parks. With a 10 room facility, restaurant, reception and bar. The outdoors, with a direct view from above the Save River, offers a spectacular surrounding and immersion in a preserved nature. The lodge is composed of isolated chalets which offer a high degree of privacy. Guests become temporary immersed in the universe of the bush, waken by the sound of hippopotamus.
Activities:
- Game drives and walking safaris – trained guides (rangers) can take tourists on an early-morning or sunset in 4x4’s or by foot to discover the wildlife.
- Birdwatching and canoeing on the Save River.
- Visit to the community – Guests will be included into the cultural and day to day life of the local communities, understanding how these populations can cohabitate with such wild animals
- Participate in a social project - under the concept of Voluntourism.
Accommodation: It offers 2 luxury suit chalets with queen beds and a single bed, 3 double room chalet with a queen bed and 5 furnished tents in a campsite for double accommodation.
Getting There: It is highly advisable to travel in 4x4 vehicles due to the conditions of the road. The main route from North to South of Mozambique, the EN1, is tar and in reasonable condition. The secondary routes are of rail, gravel or sand and traffic conditions depend on the prevalent weather conditions.
From the EN1 take the Mapinhane – Mabote Road (114 km). From Mabote, follow the indication “Zinave National Park”.
The lodge is situated 94 km from Mabote, around two hours and half.
