Decree no. 10/93 of 22 June established the National Fund for Tourism, also known by its acronym FUTUR, its objectives being the promotion of the national tourism product, the stimulation and coordination of all initiatives and activities pertaining to tourism and to further encourage those others related to it or contributing to its improvement.
It has been proved that national tourism in its present state of development can contribute significantly in generating national wealth, stimulating private enterprise initiatives, as well as in the creation of new job opportunities. Thus it is necessary to adjust its structure to the dynamics of the present socioeconomic development of country.
Decree Noº 28/2002 of 19 November approved the organic structure of FUTUR created by decree Noº10/43 of 22 June.
