DNATUR - Department of National Tourism

To guide, organize and support the development of tourism, the hotel industry and other areas of a similar nature;
To formulate policies and strategies for the development of tourism;
To define the hotel typology for each zone in conformity with the characteristics and requirements of the particular environment and promote the construction and proper management of such establishments;
To propose measures to continuously improve the quality of the services offered, increase competitiveness and conformity to international tourism standards;
To propose the revision and updating of existing legislation for the sector;
To analyse and submit for approval projects and proposals referring to tourist facility units and to supervise the construction and rehabilitation work thereof;
To issue operating licences for the tourism and hotel industry as well as to approve and sanction the respective tariffs;
To certify the managers of establishments in the sector in conformity with the regulations;
To approve travel arrangements and packages for tourists and enforce compliance thereto;
To update the inventory and records of the offered tourist activities and services;
To collaborate with the relevant agents on the survey of tourist assets required for the elaboration of national travel maps;
To promote the creation of local tourism committees.
