The festival of National Folk Dancing does not follow a fixed calendar and the venues change. It was created to foster the study, research preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of Mozambique. It also contributes to the permanent cultural interchange between different communities in the country thus reinforcing cultural identity and national unity.
This festival is organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture and its subordinate agencies.
The National Song and Traditional Music festival is also held at irregular intervals at different venues.
Its purpose is similar to the Dance Festival in that it promotes this other aspect of Mozambican culture.
It is also organised by MEC.
The Island of Mozambique Festival takes place every year.
The festival was created in order to promote the cultural interchange and tourism flow between Mayotte, Reunion and Mozambique.
The event is organised by the French/Portuguese Speaking Society for Sustainable Development.

The Wimbi Festival has no fixed calendar and is held in Pemba, Cabo Delgado province.
Its objective is the promotion of tourism based on a cultural platform.
Organizers of the event are the Ministries of Education and Culture.
Anualmente, há um festival dos marimbeiros de Zavala,onde há exímios tocadores de timbila e poetas de ocasião, que são bem conhecidos e apreciados em Moçambique e noutros países africanos.
The Chopi Music Festival is held yearly between July and August at Quissico village in the province of Inhambane. The main objectives of this artistic event are the promotion of regional tourism as well as the preservation of Chope traditional music and timbila playing.

The Tofo Festival has no fixed calendar, is held at Tofo beach in Inhambane. It is similar in nature to the Wimbi Festival and is sponsored by MITUR/MEC as well.
The St. Sylvester race is held every year on 31st of December in Maputo.
The International Festival at Ponta do Ouro is held in an irregular fashion on the beach of that location. Its purpose is to promote the cultural interchange between the peoples of South Africa, Swaziland and Mozambique.
